I was fortunate enough to find out about the Ministry during my time living as a homeless youth in New Orleans. It was by chance that I had wandered by a a Ministry food drive on Christmas Day, and without a moments hesitation two of the ladies running the drive came to my aid with not only food and clothing, but also much needed words of love and encouragement. I cannot speak more highly the selfless love and dedication that all of the volunteers possessed that day. It was clear to see the difference that the drive made for everyone on the receiving end, myself included!
Not only was I assisted and encouraged that day but also in the weeks and months that followed. The ladies with whom I spoke kept in touch and guided me with advice, opportunities and kind words during a time in my life that was otherwise filled with hardship and loneliness. I strongly believe that without their help I would have remained without a safe place to sleep far longer, and may never have been granted the opportunities I came upon shortly after.
Since then I have worked as a Flight Attendant for a major airline and more recently I have been accepted into a college program; both dreams of mine since I was a girl.
To Our Good Shepherd Ministries, and all of the amazing staff, volunteers and donors who continue to work tirelessly in aid of the less fortunate, I am forever thankful.
Sincerely,
Laura H
